How to make the hot oyster porridge for a cold winter day (Cháo hàu)

Oysters are salt-water mollusks which are rich in vitamins C and B-12; and they’re loaded with zinc, selenium, and iron. Nothing is better than enjoying a bowl of warm oyster porridge on a cold winter day!

INGREDIENTS

Fresh oysters
  • Oyster: 10 (300 gr)
  • Water: 1000 ml
  • Rice: 200 gr
  • Green onion: 30 gr minced
  • Ginger:  30 gr minced
  • Garlic: 20 gr minced
  • Cilantro: 20 gr minced
  • Spices: sugar, salt, fish sauce, seasoning powder

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Fry the rice for 3 minutes then cook in water for 40 minutes.

2. Cut the oyster meat into pieces.

3. In a pan, fry some garlic and ginger until they turn brown . Add oyster meat and spices in. Mix well and cook for 5 minutes so that the oyster meat absorbs the spices.

4. Put the meat in the porridge. Adjust the flavour to your preference with the spices.

Serving:

Pour the porridge in a bowl then add the sliced green onion, cilantro and ginger on top. Garnish with some ground black pepper and sesame oil. It’s best served hot!
